I'm Too Busy Catching Stories

Haruki Murakami has been taking questions from his fans and posting them here: Most of it is in Japanese but one of the questions he was asked was if he thinks about what he is writng and if he takes his international readers into consideration.

He replied: "It is like catching exotic birds or butterflies in the deep woods. I have no time to think about the readers. I am too busy catching stories. If I lose sight of them once, they would be gone in an instant and probably for good."

What a great answer.
