Fly to God

Life is heavy,
At times heartless –
filled rivers linked to blood,
lead to love - the gushing flow

of endless heart.
Hear the sound of
breathing, the pumping,
oxygen to cells,

the carriage plumes of mourning
burning up the sun.

It's time, they say
blackened heads
and frowning.
The casket lifted up

for all to see
Jezebel with sunken
cheeks, grey skin,
scooped out with
silver desert spoon.

She grows wings amongst
the hush, the filled pews
crowded black, she carries
her religion inside her heart

she flutters from out of coffin
hovers here and there
then flies high into the rafters
to live with her God.
